Wisconsin Fake Id Confiscation

Guillermo Rosales, My Angel (1986)

relatively short book which recounts the narrator's stay in a second area of asylum in Miami. William Feguiras, our narrator, fled Cuba because his novel was refused by the censor. He became mad, hearing voices, seeing the devil everywhere. To try to heal he joined his aunt in Miami but he insulted members of his family. After some weeks he is placed in this asylum that is the refuge of forgotten, cheated and abused by the manager by his assistant. More than a metaphorical discourse on Cuba, even if the medium can appear insular microcosmic Castro is a descent into hell that is formed under our eyes, a slow death that is wrong for a moment the forlorn hope of a better life in the person of Francine. Rosales was killed in 1993 in Miami, this short story is one way to take stock, to write on paper the observation of a desperate life. A hundred pages that the sun does not penetrate.
