child banana , Isabelle Sauer, Cécile Gambini (ill.),
Ed Didier Jeunesse, 2011. From 5 years.
" Once upon a time, and once just good, old, old hunchback who lived in southern China. After a storm had devastated his banana field, the old hunchback took care of a tiny shoot that grew and grew and grew ... and became a young banana tree. What was very strange is that on that banana there was only one fruit, one banana. And what was even more strange is that this banana started to grow and grow, grow ... Until one day a swallow has passed. She pecked the fruit and the skin opened. In banana, there was a small boy ... "So begins the child banana a wonderful adventure in search of a remedy that will cure his father.
Drawings by Cecile Gambini are made in pencil and acrylic, rich embroidery and collages that draw the eye and curiosity of the reader. The yellow cover and some pages wonderfully warm story with beautiful values, solidarity, respect and fidelity to their word. The route of the child's banana is full of pitfalls, but his wisdom will pay. A Chinese tale of great sweetness!
Excerpt: " His boss made him suffer so he could not move. The child Banana him off his shirt, he was preparing to massage her back, but the swallow approached, as if she would peck at the hunchback's hump. Then the child picked up a banana stalk of bamboo to chase the swallow (...). "
